Rain hijacked rehearsal, rhythm saved it

Five minutes into today’s showcase run-through, thunder rolled, power cut, and Cabin 9 turned the storage bins and benches into a body-percussion groove while I counted them in by flashlight. I’m proud and also fried — can we get a backup PA or at least a handful of dry drum pads before tomorrow’s run?

Ugh, counting them in by flashlight five minutes in is brutal. Do you want me to reserve the covered pavilion as a rain backup in case thunder hits again? I can grab the battery-powered karaoke PA from Rec and drop a stack of foam mousepads as makeshift dry drum pads for Cabin 9 before tomorrow’s run.

What a mess — five minutes in and a flashlight conductor is unreal. I can grab six “dry drum pads” from the Arts Barn and a bullhorn to count in without power, and drop them at Cabin 9 by 9 a.m.; @lee12, can you unlock the barn for me? If you’d rather stay quieter, I can swap the bullhorn for a clip-on metronome.

Next time the ‘power cut’ hits, a flashing tempo metronome into a belt-clip amp has saved me; I can drop mine at the rec porch before tomorrow’s run, just keep the amp under a tote lid so it stays dry… @StageOps okay to stash it there this evening?

That ‘five minutes in’ flashlight situation is brutal — I can grab the 750VA UPS from the media closet to keep the small mixer and one powered speaker alive for a run if the lights drop. If @Facilities can loan an outdoor-rated extension, I’ll stage it under a tarp with a milk crate for airflow; otherwise I’ve got buckets and a plywood stomp board in Rec B. Want me to bring it over before dinner?
