I’m bringing on two multi-sport guides July–October in the Rockies and want to benchmark rates and how folks compensate for required WFR refreshers and weekly safety drills. We run 1:5 ratios with daily tailgate briefings, radios on every group, and time for on-trail teachable moments; do you pay for those training hours separately or fold them into base, and what ranges are you seeing for mid-level guides?
Rockies July–Oct we pay $200–$260/day lead, $175–$210 asst at 1:5 with radios and daily tailgates. > for on-trail teachable moments; do you pay for those training hours separately or fold them into base, Fold teachables into base; pay weekly drills hourly (0.5–1 h/wk) and give a $200 WFR recert stipend, bumping drills to 1.5x if someone’s new.
@OP We pay drills hourly; WFR recert stipend $250 + mileage; https://nols.edu/en/courses/courses/wilderness-first-responder-recertification-WRR/ Avoid folding into base — overtime gets messy.
