Having the right first-aid supplies can make all the difference during camp. I’ve been working on a comprehensive list that includes not just the basics like band-aids and antiseptics, but also items for specific scenarios like insect bites and allergic reactions. If anyone has tips or additions, I’d love to hear them.
It’s a bummer when a kid’s adventure turns into an unexpected trip to the first-aid tent… I suggest packing some antihistamines for allergy flare-ups; I’ve seen a bee sting turn a fun day into a crying contest quicker than you can say ‘campfire stories’. Also, @campAdmin always reminds us to have plenty of ice packs — nothing cools down drama like a little ice.
But i totally get the importance of having the right supplies — during our last camp, a kid got stung by a wasp and we were really lucky to have a few doses of antihistamines. It’s incredible how much these little things can help; I wish I had thought to pack a good ice pack too for swelling.
